In the current Microsoft fiscal year (FY16, from July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2016) there are three Cloud Services incentives that support customer and partner success by rewarding usage and consumption:

  • Online Services Usage incentives
  • Advisor Sell incentives
  • Azure Consumption incentives

In this post, I’ll introduce each of these Cloud Services incentives, and the key things for partners to know about them. At the end of this post, I’ve listed the resources available to help you understand the incentives and how to earn them.

Online Services Usage incentives – start on October 1

October 1 is the release date for the new Online Services Usage incentives. Active usage is important because it focuses on customer outcomes, generates new partner revenue opportunities within and across workloads and services, and customers that actively use Microsoft services understand the value and are more likely to purchase services in the future.

What to know about Online Services Usage incentives
  • Online Services Usage incentives replace the Advisor Deploy incentives. September 2015 is the last month for partners to earn Advisor Deploy incentives
  • The Cloud Productivity competency is required for participation
  • Partners are eligible to earn on existing and new customers if they are the Digital Partner of Record (Digital POR is identified at the subscription level)
  • Partners are paid Online Services Usage incentives on eligible Office 365, Enterprise Mobility Suite (EMS) and Microsoft Intune products purchased via Enterprise Agreement (EA)

Advisor Sell incentives – refresh on October 1

October 1 is the FY16 refresh date for the Advisor Sell incentives. These incentives continues to reward partners for acquiring new cloud customers and managing relationships with them.

What to know about Advisor Sell incentives

  • Previously called Advisor Web-Direct incentives
  • Rates reduced from up to 23% in Year 1 to 15% in Year 1 to encourage partner focus on through-partner motions such as Open and Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) license programs
  • Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online purchased via Enterprise Agreement (EA) is now rewarded within this incentive

Microsoft Azure incentives – refreshed on August 1

Microsoft Azure incentives refreshed for FY16 on August 1. This program continues to reward partners for driving Azure consumption when customers purchase via EA and Web-Direct.

What to know about Microsoft Azure incentives

  • Available to partners with the Silver or Gold Cloud Platform competency
  • The rate structure has transitioned from 20% of consumption revenue for 24 months, to 20% during the incentives period of August 1, 2015 to September 30, 2016
  • Partners are now associated using the Digital Partner of Record process, where customers assign Partner of Record in the Azure Account Center (Digital POR is identified at the subscription level)
