ColumbusFood helps meat and poultry businesses optimize their processes to enable faster implementations, fewer complexities, and lower total cost of ownership. This article highlights ColumbusFood’s enhancements to sales and purchase order processes.

Order guide –

Columbus’s sales order guide give processors insight into their customer’s sales history extending the possibility of cross or upsell at the point of sales order entry. This functionality enables you to stay on top of your customer requirements as it gives you access to accurate, timely and complete information on all of your sales orders. Columbus offers the same order guide functionality under purchase orders as well.

Standing sales order –

Columbus offers processors, sales orders for all standing orders. This functionality saves ColumbusFood users’ time during sales order entry and eliminates errors for orders that repeat with a known frequency.

Columbus enhanced pricing – Processors who require flexible sale price calculation and promotional discounts and who need readily available price changing methods will come to rely on Columbus’s enhanced pricing features offering complex price calculations that are maintained, tracked, and updated efficiently.

Vendor item approval management - Processors must maintain control on the quality of ingredient received. sing BI Tools to Extend CRMMicrosoft now offers the ability to expose your Power BI dashboards and tiles within your Dynamics 365 Personal Dashboards.

If you are not familiar with the power of BI (pun intended) check out this on-demand webcast on “Using Business Intelligence Tools to Extend CRM” – an encore presentation from Ledgeview’s CRM Conference.

Back to the task at hand. Here are simple instructions to expose your Power BI dashboards and tiles to your personal dashboards.

Turn on Power BI Visualization in Dynamics 365

Enable Power BI visualizations for your organization in

Settings > Administration > System Settings > Reporting tab > Allow Power BI visualization embedding.

Ledgeview Power BI 1

Embed Power BI Dashboard within Dynamics 365

  1. Go to Dashboardsin SalesService, or Marketing.
  2. Select an existing personal dashboard or click New to create one.
  3. On the dashboard, click an area where you want the tile to appear, and then click Power BI Tile on the toolbar.Note: you cannot add Power BI dashboards to D365 System dashboards.

Ledgeview Power BI 2

In the Add Component dialog, select the Power BI dashboard and Power BI tile that you want to display on your dashboard, and click Enable for mobile if you want to make the tile available for Microsoft Dynamics 365 for tablets and Microsoft Dynamics 365 for phones.

Ledgeview Power BI 3

Recommendations

If you are using Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power BI and/or Azure, it is recommended to use the same login for all applications.  The login needs to be a work email address.  The Dynamics 365 will not find the Power BI visualizations without having a common login.  There is not a location in Dynamics 365 to direct or select the Power BI environment.

Note: Dynamics 365 Users must have a Power BI account and have access to at least one Power BI dashboard expose the embedded visualizations.

9 Ways Microsoft Dynamics CRM nurses Healthcare Provision to its full potential

$

With flu season in full swing, healthcare is at the top of everyone's mind. Whether you’re a patient or a healthcare provider, there is no illusion that the healthcare system is perfect. Certain things can be streamlined and made more efficient, helping everyone involved.

Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solutions are a logical group to turn to in search for a remedy (yes - medical humor will be involved). But we’re here to make the case that Microsoft Dynamics CRM is an all-round ERP winner when it comes to healthcare.

Here are 9 ways that CRM can improve the quality of services of a healthcare provider.

  1. Patient history access

Avoid the all-time irritating experience of asking “So why are you here?” and having a patient stare back at you with dismay as they have to repeat their ‘journey’ for the fifth time. Microsoft Dynamics CRM allows access to a centralized patient profile with a list of previous appointments and referrals. You can now spend that time focusing on more targeted questions.

  1. Targeted educational outreach

You effortlessly improve the overall health of patients with automated messaging campaigns. For example, you can make sure your Diabetes patients receive newsletters with tips, or your Smokers are alerted to group meetings to help them quit. Something so simple and easy can lead to some results.

  1. Remote monitoring

Patients confined to their homes are always difficult to treat; you may not get there in time of an emergency, or spend a long time commuting away from other patients. Microsoft Dynamics CRM allows you to monitor at-home medical devices as well as receive alerts when vitals, etc. start to misbehave or fall into dangerous zones. Response time can this be heavily shortened.

  1. Patient profiles - not your average EHR

Say ¡adiós! to symptom-listing EHRs. Microsoft Dynamics CRM allows for the creation of a patient profile, which includes lifestyle choices among other useful details. These profiles are important because studies have shown that the quality of healthcare provided is not the only thing affecting patient health. When doctors are aware of these other factors, they can better tailor their treatment and healthcare plans.

  1. Building care plans

With all the patient data that a CRM can hold, it easily builds unique care plans that tailored to a specific patient’s requirements and needs. Additionally, it allocates tasks to each member on a care team. Coupled together, these make a patient’s treatment more effective and efficient.

  1. Better coordination and communication

Furthermore, Microsoft Dynamics CRM provides a platform for communication: the patient and all healthcare providers involved are updated with new tasks, notified to missing treatments, and can communicate in real-time. More efficient care and fewer mistakes are just a few of the positive outcomes of CRMs in the healthcare industry.

  1. Cohort analysis

Furthermore, this comprehensive conglomeration of data enables a number of insights to be drawn, not solely based on the analysis of a single patient, but on a whole population. This is a slightly harder point to describe, but analysis → insight → better action/diagnosis/treatment is the overall gist.

  1. Clinical trial management

Again, not an expert in the goings-on of a clinical trial, but Microsoft Dynamics CRM is noted to be able to streamline the entire process. From planning and implementation to tracking and analysis, data is centralized and easily accessible and manageable.

  1. Recruitment aides

Microsoft Dynamics CRM is also equipped with recruitment tools to assist in the hiring of highly qualified medical professionals. Ultimately, this can only help maintain a level of quality healthcare provision, if not improve it too.

Even if you just read the section headers, you can see that there are many benefits to adopting Microsoft Dynamics CRM if you’re a healthcare provider.

Who are Data Scientists and What they Do

$

Now-a-days the buzz word is Data Analytics. Customers are savvy and want to know how we can help analyze their data.

I feel Data Analytics should be part of every medium to large Dynamics 365 project. This is first of many blogs I will start writing for Data Analytics.

Good news is that Microsoft is already leading the way in Data Analytics through extreme investments in Dynamics 365, Windows, Azure, Machine Learning, SQL Server and IoT.

Data scientists are a special breed who work on data and have the art of making some sense out of it. Having said that it is not as simple as picking customer's SQL Server and start writing TSQL queries.

Data scientists should have the following
  • Constant learning of current state of any project or business
Customer's data is the representation of its business in the form of numbers, text, dates and images.
  • Fully understand the expectations and deliverable
Planning and the execution both depend on the end goal. A data scientist should be clear of what is expected so that the analysis and transformation can be performed accordingly.
  • Knowledge of methodologies and tools
A data scientist should be aware of various methodologies and tools available at his/her disposal. For example, Microsoft has many tools for data analysis and they work with all kinds of data.
  • Curiosity, Persistent, Patient and Focused
A data scientist sometimes need to churn Terabyte or Petabyte or Exabyte of data. Therefore they need to have constant curiosity and be persistent, patient & focused to explore, visualize, slice and dice data.
  • Technical Savvy
Data scientists should know how to work with raw data. They should be able to transform it to an easy format & visualization so that correct analysis can be made and timely decisions can be reached. Data scientists should be good in math and statistics. Statistics is a branch of mathematics dealing with the collection, analysis, interpretation, presentation, and organization of data.

What does a Data Scientist Do?
  • Data scientists spend most of the time preparing data
Data scientists need to clean, prepare and process raw data so that it can be analyzed.
  • Run software programs against data
Data scientists use various software programs and languages to analyze data. For example SQL query language, R, Python, Hive, Hadoop, Microsoft R Server, Power BI, Excel, etc.
  • Prepare Reports and Visualizations
Data scientists produce reports, charts and tables for easy understanding.

Hands On With MDGP 2018 RTM: Before Deploying the Reporting Services Reports

Microsoft Dynamics GPMicrosoft Dynamics GP 2018 RTM has now been released. In this series of posts, I will be stepping through the installation of Microsoft Dynamics GP and additional products and then will move on to taking a look at the new functionality which has been introduced.

The series index for this series of posts is here and will automatically update as posts go live.

Now that Microsoft Dynamics GP 2018 RTM has been installed and confirmed working, it’s time to deploy the Reporting Services Reports. However, before I do so, there are two tasks which need to be done first.

The first is to ensure SQL Server Reporting Services itself has been configured to work with Microsoft Dynamics GP. This isn’t actually too difficult, it just requires the following element to be added to the web.config file:

maxRequestLength="20690"

This blog post has detailed instructions of how to make this configuration change.

The second change may not be needed; it will depend on the security settings on your PC or server, but I find myself making this change in advance anyway so that I do not have any issues and so that my AD login is automatically used. When I don’t make this change, I have had problems deploying the reports; when I make the attempt, the deployment hangs and eventually fails.

The change is to add the SSRS website to the Local Intranet zone. To do this, launch Internet Explorer, clikc the cog icon and then select Internet options:

Internet Explorer

Click the Security tab, select Local intranet and click the Sites button:

Internet Options

In the Add this website to the zone field, enter the web address of the SSRS server and click Add:

Local intranet

Click Close and then OK to save the changes. The Reporting Services Reports can now be deployed, and this I’ll cover in the next post.

In Module 07 (and a few other places within same course) the importance of using the client / server modifiers and the RunOn property is discussed and emphasized.

However in D365 all X++ code is executed on the server. And thus the client / server keywords as well as the RunOn property are ignored.

Reference: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/unified-operations/dev-itpro/dev-tools/programming-language-support

I haven't tried the actual exam yet, so I don't know if this wrong assumption from the training material has sneaked into the exam as well. If there are questions on client/server settings, it probably has sneaked its way in since it's not of any importance anymore.

How to Fix Microsoft Dynamics 365 App for Outlook Add-In Error

Have you ever tried to install the Microsoft Dynamics 365 App for Outlook and were faced with the below error?

image

This is not only an un-useful error but does not suggest why this add-in could not start. Never fear, the fix is very simple! This error occurs because of a disabled security feature which the Outlook client requires when an add-in is installed. To enable this security feature do the following:

  1. Navigate to Internet Options.
    image
  2. Navigate to the Security tab and ensure that the ‘Enable Protected Mode’ box is ticked.
    image
  3. Press ‘OK’ and close Internet Explorer and Outlook.
  4. Re-open Outlook and press the ‘Dynamics 365’ add-in.
  5. You may need to restart your PC before the changes take effect.

There you have it, an easy fix to allow the Dynamics 365 add-in to work on your PC.

The series index for this series of posts is here and will automatically update as posts go live.

With SSRS configured to work with Microsoft Dynamics GP, we can now deploy the reports. This is done via Reporting Tools Setup (Administration area page >> Setup >> System >> Reporting Tool Setup).

Change the Report Server Mode to Native and enter the Report Server URL and Report Manager URL.

You can also set a subfolder for where the reports are to be deployed; this is useful when you have more than just the Microsoft Dynamics GP reports deployed onto the report server.

Make sure the checkboxes in the Deployment Options section are checked and click the Deploy Reports button.

Reporting Tool Setup

Click Yes to confirm the dialog to save changes:

Click the Deploy Reports button again and the deployment will start. This may take a few minutes to process, but a dialog with a progress bar will display:

Couple of days ago, I was helping a young developer. Who was doing some customization. He added some customization in PurchParmtable and want information in VendPackingSlipJour Table.

It was very strange that there is no direct relationship between vendPackingSlipJour and  PurchParmTable.

After Exploring I found that There is ParmId field in VendPackingSlipVersion table.

And we can get VendPackingSlipVersion by static method with PurchId and PackingSlipId, DeliveryDate.

This ParmId has relation with PurchParmTable.

I wrote down following code snippet to get Value from PurchParmTable, with respect to VendPackingSlipVersion.

display real _netWeight()
{
PurchParmTable _purchParmTbl;
parmid _id;
_id=VendPackingSlipVersion::findFromInterCompanyPackingSlip((this.PurchId),
(this.PackingSlipId),(this.DeliveryDate)).ParmId;
select *from _purchParmTbl where _purchParmTbl.ParmId==_id;
return _purchParmTbl.NetWeght;
