Introduction to the new Office 365 E5 suite
Over the next month we are going to introduce the new enterprise value that is coming to Office 365 in the E5 plan which highlights how Microsoft is delivering the most comprehensive, most secure, cloud productivity and communications offering. The E5 suite will give you the opportunity to upsell your existing customers on PBX and PSTN conferencing, as well as new organization analytics. You will also have the opportunity to build new services business around voice, modern meetings and business analytics. If you have customers that have been reluctant to move to the cloud because of security concerns, perhaps you will be able to convert those customers with new advanced threat protection and data access controls.
In this post, I’ll explain the high-level capabilities are and how this new value comes together in our Office 365 Enterprise suite offerings, including the new premium E5 plan. In upcoming posts, I’ll provide you with a deeper look at a couple of features.
The table above shows the Office 365 Services available in the E1, E3, and new E5 suites. You can see that we have added differentiating new feature value to our existing meetings capability in E1 and E3 with Skype Meeting Broadcast. We have extended Data Loss Prevention (DLP) and Encryption to our E3 plan. DLP has been part of E3 for some time in the messaging workload—what’s new is the expansion of DLP in SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business, which helps complete the vision of unified compliance across all of Office 365, with consistent policies for your enterprise surfaced in the Compliance Center.
The new advanced feature value of security, compliance, analytics, and new Cloud Voice and PSTN conferencing capabilities have been reserved for the E5 suite.
Here are the topics for the next two posts in this series:
- A detailed look at the Modern Meetings capability, Cloud PBX and PSTN Conferencing, and new security and compliance controls
- A detailed look at personalized insights with Delve Organizational Analytics and Power BI
