In To-Increase Food Manufacturing and Distribution for Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2015 SP 1, we bundled a stand-alone solution that can be acquired separately, To-Increase Transport Order Management . A larger range of logistics management functionalities is now available to food companies in the Microsoft Dynamics NAV environment. For example, you can create shipping containers for specific delivery addresses, use transport orders to deliver multiple containers to a single delivery address, and combine multiple transport orders into a delivery trip. In addition, you can take advantage of all the transport order planning, cost management, and other logistics features in Transport Order Management. You can outsource both individual transport orders as well as delivery trips to logistics service providers, and enter the appropriate costs at the right level. Finance managers can then use these posted transport costs to register and post purchase invoices. Managing delivery trips in Food Manufacturing and Distribution has become much easier. In the Solution Center, a key architectural component in all our solutions for Microsoft Dynamics NAV, there is a standard workflow functionality. You can now use that workflow feature to manage the status of delivery trips in your logistics operation. You can simply create your own statuses, and link them to existing statuses for a delivery trip. You can expand the status capabilities with additional options such as closing containers or releasing transport orders. We also improved the trip settlement functionality to make it easier to accommodate changes in quantities that were delivered, after shipping but before invoicing. In addition, we enhanced the picking process with a new shorts management functionality. In picking, when there is not enough quantity of an item on hand to pick and deliver it, the solution lets you change the quantity at the level of the warehouse. Such changes will be reflected in the original sales order, which means handling deviations is much easier in Food Manufacturing and Distribution than in standard Dynamics NAV. To provide yet more flexibility in meeting customer needs, we also made it possible for warehouse workers to substitute items or part of a shipment for other items.
