SmartList is a reporting tool for Microsoft Dynamics GP that has become very popular because it is easy to use and retrieves the data you want very effectively. But if you are a SmartList user and your list of Favorites has become long and unruly, it can be cluttered mess. With Microsft Dynamics GP 2015 R2 there is an easy way to clean up SmartList Favorites lists.
SmartList Favorites enables fast efficient access to the reports that users need most, but when the list of favorites becomes too long, users aren’t getting the full benefit of SmartLists.
The problem typically starts when a new SmartList Favorite is created. The user has the option to select to whom the SmartList Favorite will be visible, including the following options: System (Default), Company, User Class, and User ID.
Often when users create a new SmartList Favorite, they accept the default option, System, so every single user is able to view the new Favorite. A large list of SmartList Favorites not only creates clutter in the system, it is difficult for system administrators to manage and clean up.
A new feature in Microsoft Dynamics GP 2015 R2 gives system administrators the ability to define the default selection for visibility when creating new SmartList Favorites. In the System Preferences window there is now a Default SmartList Visibility drop-down list. The chosen option in this drop-down will now be the default in the “Visible To” drop-down list as users add new SmartList Favorites.
This gives administrators the ability to select to whom new SmartList Favorites will be visible by default, including only to the user creating the Favorite. This will help reduce clutter in other users’ SmartList Favorites, and allow administrators to more easily manage and clean up SmartList Favorites.
Existing Microsoft Dynamics GP users can upgrade to Dynamics GP 2015 R2 in a matter of days without huge licensing costs, even if you are currently lapsed on your maintenance plan. Find out more about cost effectively upgrading to Dynamics GP without hassle.
